Motorola Digital Phones

On this page are the digital brick phones produced by Motorola.

It all started with the Motorola International 3200, which was the world's first digital phone, that operated on 900Mhz GSM. The phone could make and receive calls, but texting hadn't yet been invented. It was sold under other brand names such as Bosch and Pioneer, and these clones are also available on this page.

The International 3300 was slightly slimmer than the 3200 and the adaptor plugged straight into the phone, rather than into a charging cradle although some were supplied with cradles. But the main difference was that the 3300 was the first mobile phone in the world that could receive text messages! They can still receive them too! They scroll across the screen rather than down like today's phones. Much rarer than the 3200 and much more collectible, prices are higher. These phones cannot send texts.

These phones take the small SIM card and work on GSM 900 networks. In the UK that means 02 and Vodafone. Check here for availability elsewhere

Bosch Cartel S 2G1

Bosch Cartel S 2G1 made in 1993. Bosch Serial No - 369 9110. Motorola Serial No - 092RTSL653.

Phone with battery attached measures 19.5cm high x 4cm wide x 6.5cm deep. Antenna is 14cm long. Weight of package is 1.55kg.

This phone is a Motorola 3200 clone and is new in the box and in perfect condition. It still has the cellophane on the screen and top and bottom of the phone and battery. It works on GSM 900 and will work on any compatible network in the world (see the link at the top of the page). The box has some minor signs of wear from storage and has had a sticker torn from the top. We tested the phone by charging the battery and making and receiving a call and everything worked perfectly.

Package consists of the box with inserts, phone, battery, antenna, charging stand, adaptor with a European type 2-pin plug and user manual. The user manual is in German, so we will include a CD copy in English.

This phone is guaranteed to work for 30 days from delivery. See
The Smallprint for details.

Price is £199 including delivery to anywhere in the world by registered post.

Bosch Cartel S 2G1

Bosch Cartel S 2G1 made in 1994. Motorola Serial No - 092RUEC363. Bosch Serial No - 463080100

Phone with battery attached measures 19.5cm high x 4cm wide x 6.5cm deep. Antenna is 8.5cm long. Weight of package is 570g

This rare phone is a Motorola 3200 clone and is in very good condition overall, with only tiny marks. The phone powers up when there is no SIM card in it and looks like it will work perfectly. However, when it is powered up with a SIM card inserted, it immediately turns itself off. We tried this several times and had the same result, so it is being sold, with the original non-working battery, as a display piece only.

Package consists of the phone, original non-working battery and a brand new non-original antenna.

Price is £49 including delivery to anywhere in the world by registered post.

Telekom D1 327 (Motorola)

Telekom D1 327 (Motorola) made in 1993. Model No - SLF485A. Serial No - 092RTYQ993.

Phone with battery attached measures 19.5cm high x 4cm wide x 6.5cm deep. Antenna is 14cm long. Weight of package is 0.8kg.

This phone is a Motorola International 3200 badged as a Telekom D1 327, which makes it very rare indeed, as not many of these were produced. The phone is in good condition with only general wear and tear. However, even though it powers up, the phone would not pick up a network and so must have some internal fault. It is being sold for display only with a non-working battery, but can be powered up from the battery-eliminator, which plugs into a car cigarette lighter.

Package comprises of the phone, battery, antenna and battery-eliminator.
